I've fixed this bug in the CVS repository. I added some tests for the Tie::DBI plugin which added some records to the database. If you don't have Tie::DBI installed then those tests don't get run and the number of records is then out. Mea culpa. Thanks for reporting it. Changes will be appearing in a developer release soon.
