This is moderately off-topic, but it does relate to the continued use of
TT in my agency.

Short version: I'm in a communiciations dept doing web work. We have a
very happy apache/perl/TT/CGI-App solution that is going well. The IS
dept has determined that the agency should switch to a Web Services
configuration for all their mainframe work, and has swept "all dynamic web
pages" into it's fold. They are looking at a websphere J2EE
direct-to-user setup.

I'm arguing that websphere is better left as a backend, and our perl
programs can speak SOAP with it. The IS dept currently has no Websphere
or Java staff, but they're about to lay down the law with regard to future
application development. Despite the lack of trained staff, they are
using the fact that "other agencies use websphere" as a point for their
side.

I'd love to prove that websphere is best used with an interface layer
provided by something else (in our case, our exisitng perl-based system).
I've got the list of prominant TT users recently discussed, but are there
any Websphere-backend/Perl-frontend that I can point to? Unless it has
more TT-related content, please respond off-list.

Thanks in advance.
