I was thinking to use the existing package AnyData http://www.vpservices.com/jeff/programs/AnyData/AnyData-API.html it handles html tables, xml data, cvs databases, etc. Unfortunatly, it seems to have some problem in my present configuration, perl 5.8.0 on a linux mandrake 9.0 box.
