Thanks, I got it working on my test,[% explitive %] :) and yes I found from cpan I could send it to a scalar.
I got to thinking, in my implementation of it there is no need to put it in a scalar so I just changed it go to STDOUT by removing the \$output part. I had a problem gettingg the sun to print but it was a typo in the way I declared $vars and used it in prepare(). Thanks for your help!!!
