Is it possibly something to do with interpretation of line endings ?

Were the templates writing on the same OS type as the server ?

And we have a winner! Thanks, Simon. My server is UNIX, but I create/edit the files on my Win desktop, so they have DOS-style line endings. I'll have to be sure to convert my files to UNIX-style line endings before putting them on the server.

If this isn't too big a deal, maybe a future release could be more cross-platform friendly. I imagine that MacOS guys may be having to deal with this (minor) annoyance, too. It looks like it's just a question of patching Parser.pm, replacing the "\n" references in the chomping regexes with something like "\n\r{0,1}|\r" (or something more efficient.) Just a thought. For now, I'm just happy to know how to make it work!
