Hi Chris,

There hasn't been much progress of late (this year in fact) due to work
commitments on my part (not to mention various other bits of shit that
life's thrown at me over the past few years).

There's a working prototype in Perl, available here:

   http://github.com/abw/Template-TT3

There's a (very basic) website for TT3 that contains some links and
general blurb.

   http://tt3.template-toolkit.org/

This website was actually built using TT3, so it's not completely
vapourware. :-)

There's this talk I gave to the London Perl Conference a couple of years
ago which describes some of the features to whet your appetite.

Then last year I started working on hemp:

   http://github.com/abw/hemp

Hemp is a C library for parsing, representing, manipulating and
presenting document based languages. In other words, it'll be a C
version of TT3, but also generic enough to implement other
template/document languages (e.g. TT2 for backwards compatibility and
others). Being a C library means it's fast, memory efficient and can be
plugged into various different high level languages (e.g. Perl, Python,
Ruby, PHP, etc). I'm hoping that will increase the exposure a bit and
encourage more people to join the development effort.

Well, that's the plan, but right now it's still a work in progress.
It's not as far advanced as the Perl version, but it's not far behind.
I was originally planning to spend the second half of this year on
finishing it off, but the project I'm getting paid to work on got
extended for a few more months. However that's close to being finished
(a matter of weeks now) and then I'm not planning to take on any more
work for a few months so I can concentrate on finishing it off.

So the good news is that we're still on target for a launch on Tuesday,
some time shortly after lunch, as promised :-)

Cheers
Andy
