APAture 2005: Call for Submissions
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY APA ARTS FESTIVAL & SHOWCASE
APAture: A Window on the Art of Young Asian Pacific Americans September 13 � 24, 2005 at SomArts (934 Brannan St., SF)
Submission Deadline: All submissions must be either postmarked or received by Friday July
1, 2005, 6:00 PM, no exceptions.
Kearny Street Workshop, a Bay Area, community-based, multidisciplinary Asian Pacific
American arts organization, will present its 7th annual festival of traditional and media arts
by young APA artists September 13 � 24, 2005.

APAture: A Window on the Art of Young Asian Pacific Americans is a multidisciplinary arts
expo presenting and examining the work of emerging Asian Pacific American artists between
the ages of 18 and 35 living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. �APAture's mission is
to provide young artists with an early experience presenting their work at a large event; to
build audiences for young, emerging artists; to strengthen the sense of community among
our young artists; and to raise awareness of the existence of and diversity within the APA arts
community. �The event will be organized, juried, and staffed by the APAture 05 General
Planning Committee, a volunteer group of young artists and arts organizers from KSW-Next,
and KSW Staff.
�
Artists may submit in the following categories:
Visual arts - 2D, 3D, installation, multimedia, etc.
Performing arts - theater, dance, movement, puppetry, etc.
Music/Sound - all music, electronic, turntable, sound, noise,
Literary arts � includes all writing, spoken word
Film/video - film, video, slide shows, all projections
Tables � self-published written and drawn work, comics/zinesters, other artwork that is best
presented at a day-long table/booth

The APAture organizers encourage artists to submit finished work as well as to propose
creating new work for APAture. �APAture values community-building, ethnic and artistic
diversity, and collaboration across ethnic and disciplinary lines. �
