Film Arts Foundation seeks local films for 21st Annual Film Arts Festival

Call for Entries:  The 2005 FILM ARTS FESTIVAL OF
INDEPENDENT CINEMA will be celebrating its 21st anniversary
from November 2 - 6 this year with an extended 5-day festival.  The
Festival will return to the Roxie, and introduce a special one-night,
Best-of-Fest, screening in the East Bay following the San
Francisco premieres.

Film Arts is now seeking short and feature-length works of all
lengths and genres made by all Northern California filmmakers,
as well as works by members of Film Arts Foundation living
anywhere. Filmmakers who live in Northern California do not have
to be a member of Film Arts Foundation to submit work.
Filmmakers who live outside Northern California must be a Film
Arts member to submit work.

The Festival also has a special call for works by youth for its
special youth showcase. The entry fee is waived for films by youth
age 18 years old and under.

All submitted works must have been completed after Jan. ’04.
Works-in-progress scheduled for completion prior to Sept. 30,
considered. Downloadable entry forms are available at

Formats screened: 16mm, and 35mm film; Beta SP video; digital
video.
Submission format: VHS (NTSC) and DVD preferred for preview;
Super-8 and 16mm film accepted.

Entry fees:
Early Deadline (by May 16): $10 (works under 60 minutes); $15 (60
minutes and over);
Final Deadline (May 17-June 6): $20 (works under 60 minutes);
$30 (60 minutes and over);
No fee for youth makers ages 18 years and under.

The Film Arts Festival of Independent Cinema was created by Film
Arts Foundation in 1984 to highlight the diverse and dynamic work
of Northern California film and video makers. Over the years, the
Festival has showcased such acclaimed works as Marlon Riggs’
Tongues Untied, Debra Chasnoff’s Deadly Deception, Trinh T.
Minh-ha’s Naked Spaces, Craig Baldwin’s Tribulation 99, Sam
Green’s The Weather Underground, as well as the early films of
Lourdes Portillo, David Siegel and Scott McGehee, Lynn
Hershman, Jay Rosenblatt, Terry Zwigoff and countless others.

Film Arts Foundation seeks to support the creation and success of
independent film and video makers by providing education,
comprehensive information, state of the art facilities and
equipment, financial support and sponsorship, and exhibition
opportunities.  Film Arts Foundation is a catalyst and advocate for
the diverse voices of the independent film community on the West
