I believe the mime.types and other configuration files for Apache on OSX Server
should be in /etc/apache2, possibly in a /conf folder.

Yes, that WAS the client solution. We do have a working setup on a SL server; I
can ask our server admin how that is set up. OS X server apache can be tricky.

Wayne,

Is your server OSX Server? I ask because Apache is installed differently on the
Server vs the Client OSX, but file should still be there some where.

You can try “locate mime.types” in a console and see if where it is.

Subject: TeraScript-Talk: This old chestnut

A while ago I asked about making Apache (OSX) use Terascript to interpret HTML.
Robert very kindly gave me comprehensive instructions (see below) and this
woredk a treat on my development server. Unfortunately my production server is
running OSX Snow Leopard. I can't even find a mime.types file in this set up.

Mime types can be set up through the GUI but I have delete (rather than
commented) the "text/html" line and restarted Apache but to no avail.

Is there anyone out there with a bit of Snow Leopard/Apache experience who can
offer me some advice (other than upgrade to Lion ;) )

Wayne,

Two things need to be done to accomplish this:

First, you need to tell Apache that you don't want it to process *.htm and
*.html

This is accomplished by editing the file /private/etc/apache2/mime.types

Locate the line with "text/html html htm" on it and comment it out
(place a # as the first character)

Second, you need to tell Witango that you want it to process *.htm and *.html

This is accomplished by editing the file /Applications/Witango Application
Server 6/Configuration/clients.ini

At the bottom of the stanza [witango60_OSX_apache22_64.so] add a new line as
such:

REGISTER_EXTNS=taf;tml;html;htm

After making those two edits, go the Sharing control panel and stop/start Web
Sharing to have them take effect.

I've checked that this works, but have not done extensive testing, so please
monitor your system after you make this change.

Robert

Sorry to ask Apache noob questions but I promise I have had a look around the
various config files and search the interwebz before bothering you lot.

How do I get Witango to process HTML files (.html). I recently set this up on
my Webstar server and use it to include header and footer files in pages.

I expect it has to do with MIME types either in the AddType declaration in
httpd.conf or maybe the mime.types file but not real sure. I know this will be
second nature to many of you.
