Hi Eric,

For reliability I've used Oracle 10g for the Mac
and it worked great.   It can run on a G5 platform
as well, although I use Apache for the webserver.
You would use jdbc drivers for that combination.

Otherwise filemaker is always a reliable solution
for Macs, but can't speak for the speed.   Would
kind of depend on what application and how many
people you planned to simultaneously hit the server.
