This RFE is aimed at improving PowerTOP's functionality as an automated test
tool. Given the growing focus on power management, we can anticipate the need
for new features to fit the needs of automated test environments.
I believe the tool can benefit from additional functionalities like:
(a) different report modes when using the -d option, such as reporting only
idle or frequency state changes, or only the activity analysis (or a
combination of these).
(b) attaching PowerTOP to a process so that it performs analysis while the
process is executing, only reporting activity performed by such process
(c) different output modes to facilitate parsing the data
I'd like to receive feedback from both developers and test engineers on this
RFE so we can properly identify the right functionalities.
