Summary: Frequency now always set to max when cpupm disabled in
power.conf
Classification: Development
Product: power-mgmt
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Solaris
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: PAD
AssignedTo: eric.saxe at sun.com
ReportedBy: bill.holler at sun.com
CC: tesla-dev at opensolaris.org
The cpu_info kstat often shows cpus on one or both socket are at the lowest
pstate frequency after disabling pstates by setting cpupm to disable in
power.conf and running pmconfig. At first we thought the kstat was not
being updated. Now performance data indicates the cpus may really be
at the lower pstate. This is with current pad-gate tip 8097.
When cpupm is disabled, P-states must be reset to the max frequency.
