(This is my old gripe, but now with evidence in the 'Files'-section.) I have added 2 files, fax000000045.tif and fax000000061.tif as examples. In both cases, my name is recognized by 2.03-2 on Debian Lenny as udippcl. Both tiffs clearly and unambiguously show a closed structure, in the upper part of the lower-case 'e', even with a width of 2 or more.
Can anyone out there with 2.03 compiled from sources or a 2.04 beta please check to confirm if the problem is limited to Tesseract on Debian; respectively offer a hint or advise how to get lower-case 'e' recognized as such?
