So I have been trying open source OCR engines and they seem pretty limited. I mean they all have pretty strict guidelines in order to get good results. Forget about scanning real world photos taken outdoors. I guess after 20 or so years OCR is still in its infancy and is only produces solid results when fed B&W texts or similar specs.
Are there no advanced OCR engines that can recognize characters from regular every day photos? Try this image with OCR lol Fat chance.
