My bad, that's not due to libtool. Nothing extra should need to be installed, as is. Yes, those generated files should be zapped from the repository. The actual error probably has something to do with Mac OS X's sucky Unix tools. I don't have access to a Mac OS X machine; I invite anyone who does to see what's wrong with it.
