Facepalm.

To be honest, the failure here us more mine, for expecting any sort of
Linux experience from you, but I am a little dismayed that you would
run a command with root privileges without so much as a basic check of
what it should do first - what if I'd just given you a command to
format your hard disk?

There's nothing to wait for; Tesseract should now run without that
error, because you have updated the shared library loader - any time
you install software from source on Linux, it's the first command to
try if the software doesn't work.
