If it worked, then the second modification is unnecessary. Glad it's working for you now.
No, tesseract-android-tools just implements the core Tesseract functions. The JNI interface functions to support a lot of the functions in Tesseract's baseapi.cpp haven't been implemented, so you won't see corresponding methods in TessBaseAPI.java for most of them. If you're good with JNI you could add the missing functions yourself in tessbaseapi.cpp. It's a little tricky though. This is what I was getting at in another thread in this group the other day--I'm hoping someone will implement the JNI for Tesseract's GetRegions()/ GetWords(), which return information about where, within the image, Tesseract recognized characters.
