I have a windows 7 64 bit laptop and i am trying to install tessetact- ocr. I am haveing a great deal of difficulty following the installation procedures on the web site. The directions are not really written in layman's terms and am a bit lost. I installed the tesseract-ocr-setup-3.01-1.exe which seemed to go smoothly. When I try to open the tesseract program in Windows I just see an uninstall option. now the the Read Me file says I also need the tar ball file tesseract-x.xx.tar.gz and that it will unpack to the tesseract-x.xx directory "Note that tesseract-x.xx.tar.gz unpacks to the tesseract- x.xx directory" When I download the file and when I try to open the file to have it unpack to the correct directory windows tells me it cant open the file.
How do i get it to unpack to the correct directory? Do I Need Leptonica too? I tried to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) also but it made no difference If someone would walk me though the process via email and answer the questons I might have in the process it would be greatly appreciated. thanks -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "tesseract-ocr" group.
