Joseph, I believe I am trying to do something similar as you with Diablo 3 auction house and I just started looking into the Tesseract training yesterday. The training would work best if you had the actual D3 font, but your example looks close. I am hoping you can reply back with the name of that font you found on fontshark.com. I think creating the training tiff would be much easier if the font is install on your system. For creating the training tiff images I would suggest using jTessBoxEditor.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vietocr/files/jTessBoxEditor/ Under the Tools menu there is a 'Generate/TIFF Box', which allows you to select a system font and type out training text and generates the appropriate box coordinates.
