Are you very sure the encoding isn't always UTF-8? I find that very hard to believe. Is it just that you're getting the encoding detected as "ASCII" because you aren't using anything but that subset of UTF-8? Post a sample of output which isn't UTF-8. I don't believe you ;) Nick
