If I remember correctly there was hint in forum how to use tesseract for indication of text rotation (just four direction: 0, 90, 180, 270). Try to search forum for "osdetect" and "page detection". If you need text output, and you have problem rotated image, have a look at issue 643[1] - there is problem reported, with some suggested solution (and possible issues).
