That would be great.  If you put it up on Github, people could be 
encouraged to help you with the cleanup and submit pull requests. 
 Personally I'd prefer a non-viral license like Apache or a limited viral 
license like EPL/LGPL, but the choice is yours, obviously.

GPL won't prevent people from creating an ad-supported version.  They just 
have to publish their changes.
