Followed all the MacPorts instructions though I had to force it to activate
many things apparently because they were installed already using the
suggested "port -f activate xxx".

When running configure it gave the error:

* leptonica 1.74 or higher is required*

However mac ports reports:

The following ports are currently installed:

  leptonica @1.74.1_1 (active)

Frustrating! I only want to build the tesseract library, and I do not
understand any of this stuff.

MacPorts has littered my disk with thousands of renamed files *.mp_1493715497
which I don't want. Is there an easy way to get rid of them?

Thanks
