First try to: brew update then: brew install tesseract --HEAD I've just installed it on my private mac this way and tesseract is 4.0 (still beta though): tesseract --version tesseract 4.0.0-beta.3 leptonica-1.76.0 libjpeg 9c : libpng 1.6.35 : libtiff 4.0.9 : zlib 1.2.11 Found AVX Found SSE
If this doesn't help, you may want to remove the old version of tesseract if this doesn't help.
