Tried that, not very revealing; it just shows the GET of /index.html after the fragment of output I reported earlier.

so it hangs while testing whether the server is ready to serve.

Can you try to issue some requests with a different user agent to the test server? e.g.

lynx --dump http://localhost:8529/index.html

does it respond? if could be a server problem.
