Why? If you use that feature incorrectly it must die. DECLINED just hides
the usage error.

I believe it is. If you don't want to get the same interp, just don't use
this API.

Ah of course, there is that mp2-specific code. Any chance you could change
the code so it supports both? There are the details here:
