Some modestly interesting lines in my F14 .xsession-errors file suggest I
might benefit from some lessons in GNOMEish...

Some of these messages seem very vague. If I were to complain about file
or data not found, I should want to say something about what file or data
I cannot find... and identify what program has this complaint. Likewise,
with applets coming and going, it would be more interesting if I knew
what applets these are. The sound system does work: I can use "aplay" to
play sound files, and I hear the usual assortment of click and tock sound
effects.

I assume "nm-applet" has something to do with NetworkManager, but that
should not be running:

  [ryni...@mini ~]$ chkconfig --list NetworkManager
  NetworkManager 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
  [ryni...@mini ~]$

Perhaps nm-applet is supposed to wait around until NetworkManager might run
(that seems plausible), but these messages from nm-applet look like a
program or configuration error. Does nm-applet actually refer to
something else, and not NetworkManager?
