Would be useful to know what is broken. My understanding is that Ubuntu (and variants) are keen on using this as a replacement for GDM (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2010-October/msg00226.html) and I would have expected it to be functional. Perhaps the way forward for the "lighter" desktop environments is to switch to something like this.
