I just installed Debian Potato and have the following problem:

Compiling a file (which I used with Slink's Tetex had no problems)
produces an error code:
----------------------------------------
Loading the definitions for the Greek font encoding
(/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/lgrenc.def)
! Undefined control sequence.
\GenericError  ...
#4  \errhelp        \@err@     ...
l.213 \initiate@active@char{^^9f}
------------------------------------------------

I have checked with other babel .def's the same line appears in most
of them and that lgrenc.def is the same as the one on my previous
version on Latex.

Is there a workaround? Is it a bug?

Johann.

      horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet
      upon a rock, and established my goings."
