I have run into some problems and have been told the reason is that I am using a version of pdflatex that is too old. The version included in TeTex 1.0.7 is 0.13d. I get this error:
)Error (1024): PDF version 1.3 -- xpdf supports version 1.2 (continuing anyway) <new-prof.pdf 307.14749pt, 169.63374pt, obj 1> <use new-prof.pdf> (/afs/src.uchicago.edu/pkg/teTeX-1.0/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/ot1phv.fd)Error (327): PDF version 1.3 -- xpdf supports version 1.2 (continuing anyway) Segmentation Fault I was told on comp.text.tex thus: You are using a very old version of pdfTeX. * You can struggle with old versions, perhaps by setting the environment variable GS_OPTIONS=-dCompatibilityLevel#1.2 for the call of epstopdf and for informing ghostscript to generate pdf files of old format. * You can update pdfTeX to at least 0.14 or 1.00a-pretest. Having used TeTex happily for many years and being very appreciative of Thomas for all the work he has done on the distribution, I would not think of dictating what he includes in TeTex or when he puts new versions out. My question is whether I can download the source to a later version of pdftex and build it myself and still use it with my present TeTex version. Is that possible? Thanks. -- ______________________________________________________________________ Stuart Luppescu -=-=- University of Chicago $(B:MJ8$HCRF`H~$NIc(B -=-=- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.consortium-chicago.org/people/sl.html http://musuko.uchicago.edu/pubkey.asc for PGP Public Key ICQ #21172047 AIM: psycho7070
