Dear list, This is a bit off-topic and is only targeted at anyone that might have a bit more knowledge about OpenOffice.
Based on a discussion on some local mailing list I have realized that hyphenation of Slovenian documents in OOo is *completely* and miserably wrong (in any case: different than the one in TeX). The funniest part is that it hyphenates differently on Windows than it does on Mac (and at least someone else using Fedora 13 on i686 confirmed that it's buggy). Both are wrong, but on Windows it's less wrong than on Mac or Linux. I suspect that the current patterns (http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/sl/project/pack-sl) might not be ok, but even if I upload them in UTF-8 (for example http://tug.org/svn/texhyphen/trunk/hyph-utf8/tex/generic/hyph-utf8/patterns/txt/hyph-sl.pat.txt; see also http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=100273), nothing changes at all. Does anyone have any single idea where to start "debugging"? (I never use OOo myself, let alone know how to tweak it ...) I don't really understand where the problems come from. If hyphenation was completely broken, I guess that at least Germans would notice that. On the other hand Germans use Latin1 encoding, so there are less chances for a bug than in any other encoding. Here are some words with proper hyphenation (the way they are hyphenated in TeX as well) that fail to work in OOo: ra-ču-ni, ko-ša-ra, ko-ža, na-če-lo-ma, man-dri-va, ... Thanks you very much for any hint, Mojca http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg01719.html
