We cannot require from everybody universal knowledge. However the same problem arises when one person tells other one the story from the field where second is not competent. We do not need to go too far. Today internet highlighted all our relations. You can find here a lot of good sources of knowledge as well you can catch a wrong information. And we slowly develop some criteria which can give us some sense.
