If the line is vocal, the default style is to have the notes unbeamed, so
M-Tx adds the 'a'.  If two such notes go on one syllable, they are beamed
after all, which you do with the explicit brackets.  M-Tx doesn't bother
to remove the added 'a's, because pmxab does what the PMX manual says:
"a forced beam ... overrides PMX's selection of what notes are beamed
together."  Which happens to include any stray 'a's.  No schizophrenia,
only devoted dedication to its maker's intentions -- that's pmxab for
you. :-)
