I'm satisfied with my understanding of how MuTeX, MusicTeX, and MusiXTeX
were developed, and how PMX and M-Tx fit into that scene. However, upon
looking through chapter 7 of The LaTeX Graphics Companion, hardly an
exhaustive source, and written in 1997, I discover that PMX is briefly
mentioned, but only abc2mtex, MPP, and midi2tex are discussed, none of which
I think I've ever heard, although I recently discovered the existence of the
abc language. I've also seen evidence of other programs which I've never
made use of.

Does anyone know where I can find an up-to-date summary of the development
of the various programs and pre-processors that use TeX to typeset musical
scores, and how they relate to one another?

Thanks for any leads,
Mike
