All--
With lots of help from Christian, I've just reorganized the software
section of the Werner Icking Music Archive. The change should be
apparent if you just go to the main page at
http://icking-music-archive.sunsite.dk . Please post any comments you
may have about the "new look" to this list.
At the same time I took the opportunity to update some of the packages:
musixlyr.tex (V2.0), musixtex.zip (V T1.03), and the latest beta of PMX
(V 2.321). There is also a link to the new type1 MusiXTeX font package
(>4 MB) and 3 much smaller individual .pfb's that have been bug-fixed
since an earlier release.
Since the type 1 fonts are now available, it's now possible to make
PDF's that look good at any resolution in Acrobat Reader. Therefore
Christian and I would like to encourage all contributors of
ready-to-print scores, software manuals, and downloadable sample pages
to submit a PDF. You can make PDF's with dvipdfm, pdftex, or acrobat
distiller, and maybe other software. This format is less likely to cause
platform-specific problems with downloads than the .ps.gz that had been
the standard in the archive up to now. For example, I converted the
manuals for MusiXTeX, PMX, and M-Tx this way...have a look.
