Dear all.

Some years ago Mats Bengtsson helped me with producing a specialized
version of the TeX fonts named 'feta' used for the GNU music typesetting
utility lilypond. To these fonts were added symbols used in the music
from the mensural notation era (a. 1300-1600). The fonts were renamed to
'old-feta' to distinguish them from the lilypond fonts constantly under
development and to avoid font conflicts with computers having both
MusiXTeX and lilypond installed like I have.

Since then the fonts and a set of macros making use of them has been
publically available in connection with my modern editions of music by
Thomas Ravenscroft (see our vocal msuic section). Now, with the
possibility of generating type 1 fonts out of TeX metafont font sources,
Mats has been doing that for the feta fonts like Takanori Uchiyama did
with the MusiXTeX fonts. On my request he has also prepared type 1
versions of the old-feta fonts which I have afterwards packed with the
original type 3 fonts, my mensural music macros and an accompanying
README file, all of it available as
http://icking-music-archive.sunsite.dk/software/musixtex/add-ons/old-feta.tar.gz

Enjoy - and let me know if you encounter any problems or have proposals
for improvements.

Bye
