Since the file needs to be (g)unzipped before untarring, another thing you can try (if the file is not corrupted), is: gunzip -c pmx-unix-230.tgz | tar xvf - ..from the folder where you want to unpack it. The message containing "unexpected end of file" usually means it has been truncated, perhaps during the download. - Willy Vera Andreas Kurth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 10/30/2001 10:22:19 PM To: TeX-Music <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> cc: (bcc: Willy Vera/LA/SPE) Subject: Re: [TeX-music] sunsite.dk archive - pmx-unix-230.tgz A.H.Gilbert wrote: > Has anyone else had a problem with pmx-unix-230.tgz in the archive? No, the file works OK for me. I suspect it must have been corrupted during download process. Maybe your browser automatically unzipped the file? (Though in that case the message should have been "gzip: stdin: not in gzip format".) Please try "file pmx-unix-230.tgz" to determine the file format.
