Thank you very much for your answers. What I did was: download the zipped
files and make a local tree for musixtex as I read in the miktex
installation instructions. Knowing that cygwin is unix-like, edited the
mentioned files in the linux howto and run mktexlsr. After that Tex works
but with musixtex files issues an error that it can't find musixtex.

I've read the file /cygwin/usr/share/texmf/ls-R, MUSIXTEX.TEX appears and
all the files I installed. But still kpsewich can't find the required
files. I suspect that it has something to do with tetex being case
sensitive and cygwin not or the other way. I will try to install
everything in my house to see what else I can find to debug this problem.
If I find something else I'll post.

By the way, I am using cygwin because I'm trying lilypond and I can't
install cygwin and miktex in my 486 machine due to space problems.
