I've been looking at the problem Bernhard discovered but I don't have a solution yet. It seems to appear when a double-whole-note rest is raised or lowered. The same problem is generated by the much simpler file ====================== 1 1 8 2 8 2 0 0 1 1 20 0
t ./ g94 r9+2 / ====================== In pmx.tex I redefined \liftpause and defined \liftPAuse (it's not in musixtex.tex !?) so that they would act as spacing commands. (Can anyone explain why MusixTeX's definition of \liftpause is NOT a spacing command, while \pause is !???). Anyhow, something in my \liftPAuse macro is not working like it should. Any MusixTeXperts are welcome to jump in here and supply alternate macros for \liftpause and \liftPAuse that provide raised, properly spaced rest symbols. By proper spacing, I mean that that the macro should move the pointer horizontally by one \noteskip from the starting point at the left-hand edge of the character, just like any well-behaved note or rest macro. ccn wrote > 1) I ran your example and found: > > (i) pmx runs without error or other problem, > (ii) TeX (first pass) runs without error or other problem, > and WITHOUT spacing problems (this is standard), > (iii) musixflex runs without error or other problem, > (iv) TeX (2nd pass) runs without error, producing your > spacing problem, BUT For me, there are spacing errors, i.e., [ ] [ ] etc, at this point. There will never be such errors on the first pass because PMX sets \elemskip to a very small value at that point. > (v) dvips makes a .ps output that looks perfecly OK!!
