No, it is a bug in Acrobat Reader 5.x: it does not display slurs that are horizontal, i.e., that start and end on the same note height. I suspect that this is caused by an "optimization" in Acrobat Reader: "characters with height 0 don't display". The slurs show up correctly when viewed with Ghostscript and in Acrobat Reader 4.x, which can be obtained from the Icking Archive, as indicated on the "Introduction" page.
