Hi everyone,

Eva Jaksch wrote in with this pmx problem a year or so ago, but I'm not
able to find the solution anywhere in the archives, so let me throw out the
question again. Is is possible with pmx to place one single bar number at an
arbitrary spot somewhere in the middle of a line? A possible application
would be a courtesy bar number after one of those 31-measure rests that we
violists so often have (sigh!).

In the actual case I've run into right now I have voltas that straddle a
line break. I'm enclosing sample pmx code with forced line breaks so it
looks like the big file I'm working on.

I want to turn the bar numbers off under the voltas. No problem - I just
put \\\nobarnumbers\ in the block where the first volta starts.

In the very first measure after my second volta ends, I'd like a
courtesy bar number. Also no problem - I just write \\\barnumbers\ in
the block after volta two. (At this point I'm not worrying about boxed or
unboxed.)

This is where I get stuck. No matter which combination and placement of
nobarnumbers, barnumbers and systemnumbers I write, I always get either "18"
and "19" both, or neither one at all. Am I overlooking something obvious? Am
I trying something impossible? Should I just give up and fudge something
with zcharnotes and kern?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Diane
