Dear list members,
it is peculiar that I instantly knew what the email was about when I read
the subject "Daniel Taupin". I am quite new to the list, I did not know
Daniel Taupin personally, and yet I was stunned by the message.
I followed the links provided by the list members, I saw a picture of
Daniel Taupin for the first time, imagined what kind of personality he
was, what he has created and cared for. I followed the link to the
overview of the mountains where he has died, I remembered why this
archive that connects us -- with all those contributions both musical and
technical -- has received its name, and I felt simply a little helpless.
I am glad that this little (?) community of fans of this genious free
software exists and that it will not vanish because this is all about the
second strongest thing I know: music.
I hope I will find a fine contribution which I can typeset.
J"urgen
P.S.: I am hearing J.S. Bach's organ choral "O Mensch bewein dein S"unde
gro"s" in its arrangement for strings by Max Reger. It would be very
suitable, but I lack the source from which I could typeset it.
Instead, I will come up with a piece for choir, that's where I come
from.
