P.D.F. often has trouble with fonts, and sometimes with placement.  I
can offer only a few suggestions:

>>Some distillers have an option to include font definitions explicitly.
  Use this option.

>>Some distillers warn you that they are substituting one font for
  another that is unavailable to be distilled.

>>If one distiller does not work, try another.  I find that sometimes
  Acrobat Distiller distills correctly and GhostScript does not--and
  sometimes vice versa.

>>Sometimes the fault lies with the viewer.  Try viewing your P.D.F. files
  with both Acrobat Reader and GhostView.
