This is strange, indeed; the error message "you entered an
invalid note-length value" doesn't make sense to me. It is NOT
the dotted-note shortcuts (at least not directly) --- I tried
that.
I found, however, that you can avoid the error by the manual fix
indicated in Andre's score below:

Everything runs fine then. But that doesn't explain anything, on
the contrary!
I also noticed that the new scor2prt.exe distributed with 2.5 still
presents the version no. 2.407 in its banner message (OK with a
beta version, because it hasn't changed since), but that's
cosmetics only. Just to see whether there was some bug introduced
in going from 2.407 to 2.5, I tried running Andre's source with
pmxab.exe of 2.406; but no change.
So this seems to be something Don should look into!
