Good evening,

compiling one of my many pmx files which I wrote
four years ago (;-) I observe a change in the
behaviour of pmx which I would like to understand:

Four years ago (when we still used pmxa and pmxb
in separate passes) the TeX-commands of type
four (inserted between "---" at the beginning of the
PMX-file) appeared *after* the commands
\input musixtex
\input pmx.

Nowadays they appear *before* these commands.

I am interested in this question
because I wrote a tex-input file which
made use of some musixtex-commands
(such as \BIGtype) in order to provide
various styles of pagenumbering, barnumbering
etc., thus extending (and partly modifying)
the features of pmx.tex.
This only works if
\input musixtex
\input pmx
is coded even before any TeX-commands
of type four.

What was the reason to change this behaviour?

Just to give a clue,
I attached the source (pmx00.pmx),
the PMX227-output (pmx00.tex).
pmx00before.tex shows the output
as I think it might have looked
using pmxa and pmxb.

I hope I could get my idea across ...

Best regards and thanks,
Eckart Begemann
