Is anyone doing unbarred music in M-TX, and if so how?

I've tried several things, including the barless music feature
described in the manual, and some of them seem OK with M-TX but pmx
barfs. For instance, I tried taking the example file netsoos.mtx and
replacing "Meter: 3/4" with "Meter: 0/4". First prepmx refused to do
anything until I removed *all* the bar lines. Then when I did that,
PMX says:

[test]# pmx netsoos
=== RUNNING PMX  ===
This is PMX, Version 2.504, 02 Nov 04
 Opening netsoos.pmx

 Starting first PMX pass

  Bar 1 Bar 2 Bar 3
 nsyst,ibarcnt: 4 3
There are more systems than bars.
[test]#

It looks like even if this worked, it wouldn't necessarily be exactly
what I want, since I want to be able to have barlines when the
composer wrote them, but not necessarily every N beats. And I also
want the meter indication that the composer wrote, but not the
barlines that he didn't.

What I'd expect to be able to do is to make the default barline be an
invisible one. PMX does have support for invisible barlines -- is
there a way for M-TX to tell PMX to use an invisible barline instead
of a regular one?
