It is easy to get what you want with M-Tx/PMX/LaTeX. I don't use ABC, so that I don't know if you can do the same with it. But if you are ready to try PMX, I can explain you how to proceed. I use Gentoo Linux and PMX works like a charm in combination with Kile.
