Hello PMX-experts,

I have typeset a song that takes 8 pages. This is too much to place it at
the music stand at once. But it doesn't make fun to turn over pages while
playing harp.

I need to compress the layout. The song has three voice. An excerpt could
give good results. But I need to look at the other voices for orientation,
at least at one voice. Is it possible to make an excerpt, where the "other
voices" are smaller?
Do you have other ideas to reduce the number of pages?

For reducing the size of selected staves you may apply something like

\\setsize{2}\smallvalue

in the pmx preamble, where {2} designates staff 2

A way of reducing the number of staves for a harp performance part could be to use a preprocessor to generate various flavours of scores and separate parts from a single master preprocessor source file. That is what I'm doing with my ongoing (lon term!) modern edition of Orazio Vecchi's "Selva di Varia Ricreatione" based on the abc preprocessing software 'abcpp' for generating dedicated M-Tx source files. See http://icking-music-archive.org/ByComposer/Vecchi.html and an introduction to abcpp preprocessing in the "Tips and Tricks" section, http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmxtricks/abcpp.html
