Good morning. I am quite new around here, so please excuse any
clumsiness in trying to communicate.

  Every one of us has once been around for the first time, so there's no
  need to feel clumsy or , in fact, apologize ...

When I try to install musixflx.pkg, after "succesfully" completing the
process everything just dissapears and no program has been installed.
Am I missing something?

I work with an "intel Mac" with OS 10.4.8

Can anybody help?

I think you have 2 problems. The first is possibly the more serious one,
and being no expert on this at all, the only help I can give you is to
give you a place to look.
      (1) you are working with a MAC. As far as I know, there
          exists no prefabricated versions of the MusiXTeX software for
          the MAC(technical jargon: no 'executables'), so 'installing'
          means compiling at least some of the MusiXTeX software,
          (musixflx, in particular) -- that may be some work! You
          should by all means check

      http://icking-music-archive.org/software/indexmt6.html

      There you will find SOME instructions, at least on how to
      compile the musixflx program on a MAC;

      (2) Above all, you need a working TeX installation! If you
          DONT have one,
          ---------------------------------------------
            I know so little about the MAC that I dont even know
            whether a usable TeX system exists; but that can
            be found out quickly)
          --------------------------------------------- you
          you might as well give up trying to use MusiXTeX right now;
          it will be simply TOO much work and hassle/frustration!

         If you do have a TeX system, you can start building on
         that, reading some of the other info given above, in
         particular

  http://icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/musixwinstall.pdf

         This is a VERY readable manual for the Windows community;
         with some bravery (and give and take) you may be able to
         make sense of some of the info there (just don't take any
         of the instructions literally; they wont apply to the MAC
         directly!).

         Once you have gotten that far, you should try to run some
         sample MusiXTeX source, before trying to write one
         yourself. I will be happy to send you one (nice and
         short), should decide to embark on this adventurous trip.

     (3) And when you have gotten to the point where you see your
         first score printed out on your printer, it would be
         wonderful if you could write down a report of your
         experiences and send it to the TeX Music users' mailing
         list: it will be invaluable to others after you!

     (4) after you have come so far and might want to switch to
         an easier life style, consider learning about PMX:

         http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/pmxccn.pdf

         You will need to compile PMX yourself for the MAC as
         well; but if you've come so far, you will also manage
         that.

     And dont forget: there are lots of people willing to help you
     further on any of the above steps!

Good luck.
