I just tried your piece. The result:
(1) my PMX did NOT crash when I added Av (before the first
line of notes, as should be)
(2) with or without Av, the accolade (in the organ part)
remained bad.
Here are my comments:
(1) Av behaves as it should. If it produces a crash with you,
something else must be the cause (Knuth would probably
call it 'a weird error')
(2) as the manual says, Av is for adjusting the space between
systems. I wouldn't have expected it to help with the
accolade problem; but, of course, one never knows (some
'weird' things work where they shouldn't -- you are much
more of an expert with such phenomena than I!)
(3) as often enough, I am really not of any help. Sorry!
